Social Events

We try to hold a series of social events for members and their friends through the year. The idea is to give members a chance to meet each other and enjoy themselves, without the whole-day commitment involved in most of the outings.

We hold some of them in the evenings to make them more accessible for people who can't get to our daytime events. Booking forms for all events are in the latest Newsletter, or you can ask the Publicity Secretary to email you a booking form.

Unlike our outings, transport isn't provided unless stated.

Spring Lunch

Once again we'll return to the Isle of Purbeck Golf Club, for what has become an annual fixture in our calendar. If we're lucky we'll have a fine day to enjoy the spectacular views across Studland and Poole Harbour. Choose from two or three courses. Prices include a drink on arrival and tea/coffee and mints after the meal. You can see the menu here.

Barbecue

Some members may remember that we used to have a very popular BBQ at Knoll Beach each July. Unfortunately, with the loss of the Learning Centre there was no provision for shelter if it rained, and we had to abandon the event.

This year, however, we thought we would try holding the BBQ again, this time at Furzebrook Village Hall. There is plenty of space for parking, and all mod cons (flushing loos as opposed to the composting ones at The Discovery Centre)!

Tea or coffee will be on offer, or you could bring your own drinks if you would like something stronger. There will be a small selection of desserts. A vegetarian option will be available.

Please come and join us, meet other members and make this the enjoyable social event it used to be.
